Scientific Structure

IODE has a twofold structure:

  • It is firstly centred around research themes that go beyond legal specialisations and correspond to scientific themes with limited scope, with the objective of facilitating disciplinary and interdisciplinary meeting points. The scientific activity takes place within the themes.
  • Secondly, it is based on three departments bringing together professors and lecturers per intradisciplinary field. These three departments are: the CRJO (Legal Research Centre of Western France), the CEDRE (European Research Centre) and the CHD (Centre for the History of Law). The main mission of these departments is to supervise PhD students. Their goal is also to fuel reflection on thematic evolutions linked to their intradisciplinary field.

Institutional Organisation

The institutional organisation of IODE is based on:

  • A management team, composed of a director and a deputy director.
  • A Laboratory Council, which is the deliberative body for all issues relative to the scientific activity, the management of human and financial resources, and the organisation and running of the unit.
